Birth Control Pills for Women Over 35 Special Considerations
When a woman reaches thirty-five, her chances of becoming pregnant are not as likely as before. Many mistakenly think they no longer need to use birth control. However, unless they wish to become pregnant, some form of birth control is necessary until after menstruation ceases.
Birth control takes on a new challenge for these so-called “mature” women. In addition to preventing pregnancy, the chosen contraceptive should be one that is not likely to cause any harmful side effects. While most women over 35 can still use birth control pills safely, there are a few risk factors that must be considered.
Oral Contraceptive Risk Factors For Women Over 35
Birth control pills are a simple, safe, and effective way to prevent pregnancy. When taken as directed, most oral contraceptives have a 99% or higher success rate. In general, women 35 and older who have previously taken oral contraceptives should be able to continue using their same brand of birth control pill.
However, if a woman of that age smokes, birth control pills are not recommended. The longer the patient has smoked, the more risk is involved in taking oral contraceptives. The chance of heart problems greatly increases if a patient smokes while taking birth control pills. For this reason, women in this age group are advised to quit smoking or use another method of birth control.

Are Mothers Qualified for Birth?
I’ve had babies on my mind lately. It makes sense because right now I’m pregnant and I spend all day long chasing a toddler – who wouldn’t think about babies in my shoes? You can imagine that I’m doing a lot of research into pregnancy and birth (again). It doesn’t seem to matter that I’ve been through it once. The thought of labor and birth is still frightening and stressful.
Some people seem to think that giving birth is a “routine procedure”. The functions of the female body are so thoroughly understood by the medical community that we are compelled to believe that the mother can lay back saying “oo, oo, ha, ha” while the doctor does all the work to bring baby safely into the world. No sweat.
That brings to mind a scene from a Monte Python movie in which a woman in labor asks the doctor “What do I do?”
The doctor replies, “Nothing, dear! You are not qualified!”
I watched that for the first time after my first child was born and died laughing. It’s an exaggeration of the typical hospital birth, but it captures how many moms feel they were treated, including myself. We are not qualified . . . Oh, but we are!

Free Birth Announcements, When to Send Baby Announcements Cards
When to Send Birth Announcements Cards
Everyone from high school friends to the cousin of the mother wants to know about the new baby as soon as possible. After all, the birth of a new baby is special for everyone who knows the proud new parents. That is why baby birth announcements, especially photo birth announcements, are typically sent out within the first two weeks after the birth. Some important considerations for when to send birth announcements are how much preparation the new parents do ahead of time, the parents’ obligations and the location of those receiving the baby announcements.
If the parents have lived in the same city for most of their lives, getting the custom baby birth announcements out early might not be as urgent. Usually, in this circumstance, the close family and friends live near by and will be able to hear about the birth of the new baby by word of mouth as opposed to a birth announcement in the mail.
However, it is still important to get the announcements out in a reasonable time frame, usually within the first month after delivery. Often, friends who might not be as close to the parents might not want to bother the new parents with a visit. A great solution is to send photo birth announcements, which will allow them to see the baby early in its life.

Conducting a Birth Records Search
Why Conduct a Birth Records Search?
People often conduct a birth records search for one of several reasons including: to locate biological parents, to learn about adoption status, to obtain a copy of a birth certificate, to research family history, and to verify a person’s identity.
Vital Information Needed for a Birth Records Search
Because birth records are public records, anyone can conduct a birth records search on anyone else – if the record has been placed in the public domain. Each state has its own definitions of what constitutes a public domain record. Because of privacy and identity theft concerns, non-public domain birth records may be obtained only by eligible requesters such as the person listed on the birth record, that person’s legal guardian, that person’s legal representative, or a law enforcement agency. Some information may be restricted as well. For example, adoption records may be sealed or personal information not disclosed due to the possibility of using that information to gain access to other sensitive information like Social Security numbers. Because of these concerns, you will need to provide proof of your eligibility to request birth records as well as fill out a request form detailing the birth record you need to find.

How An Adopted Person Can Find Their Birth Family
In nearly all States, adoption records are sealed and withheld from public inspection after the adoption is finalized. To maintain the confidentiality of these records, most States have instituted procedures by which parties to an adoption may obtain nonidentifying and identifying information from an adoption record, while still protecting the interests of all parties.
Non-Identifying Information
Nonidentifying information is generally limited to descriptive details about an adopted person and the adopted person’s birth relatives. Nonidentifying information may include the following:
Date and place of the adopted person’s birth
Age of the birth parents and general physical description such as eye and hair color
Race, ethnicity, religion, and medical history of the birth parents
Educational level of the birth parents and their occupation at the time of the adoption
Reason for placing child for adoption
Existence of other children born to each birth parent
Nearly all States allow the adopted person to have access to nonidentifying information about birth relatives, generally upon written request. The adopted person must be an adult, usually at least 18 years of age, before he or she may access this information. Approximately 37 States and American Samoa have provisions in statute that allow access to nonidentifying information to an adoptive parent or a guardian of an adopted person who is still a minor. Some States allow birth parents access to nonidentifying information, and some States give such access to adult birth siblings. Additionally, States are allowed to charge a reasonable fee for providing the information. Policies on what information is collected and how that information is maintained and disclosed vary from State to State.
