Lift Chairs for the Elderly
Have you considered a lift chair for your elderly parent, friend or relative Do you find yourself sitting in a chair longer than you like because you have trouble getting up We all like to sit and relax on your comfortable chair but for many people a chair is a trap. For someone with limited mobility, recently had hip or knee surgery, has arthritis or is handicapped, getting out of a chair requires a lot of exertion and causes a great deal of pain. A handicapped lift chair solves much of their problems by lifting a person out of their seats.
The handicap chair lift works by rising up at a 45 degree angle and allows the handicapped person to position their legs on the ground without putting a strain on their backs or legs. The simple chair lifts have an up and down control switch that raises and lowers the chair as desired. The more complicated handicapped chair lifts have the option of controlling the headrest and the footrest. There are more dials and buttons which may confuse some people.
There are also seat lifts that work in the same manner as chair lifts but they come in the form of a seat pad. This means you can place the seat lift on any chair to assist you in getting off the chair. They are capable of lifting weights ranging from 250 to 300 pounds.

Caring for Your Electric Wheelchair – How Hard Can it Be?
You’ve finally took the plunge and purchased an electronic wheelchair, and it’s great. But you may not be sure how to maintain and care for your new wheelchair. This article provides tips on taking care of the wheelchair so you can get the most benefit from it.
First, make sure that you keep your wheelchair clean, by cleaning the frame, cushions and motor sections regularly. Dust and airborne irritants can cause problems if they work their way into the engine, and having a clean chair will also provide a pleasant environment for yourself. Regular cleaning will also keep your wheelchair’s battery and motor working at optimum efficiency.
Next, make sure that the battery on your chair does not run down completely. Make sure you follow the manufacturer’s instructions for charging and maintaining the battery at all times. Following these instructions will extend both the battery life and the life of your wheelchair.
Finally, make sure you have the nuts and bolts in your wheelchair checked periodically. If the nuts and bolts are too loose, ask to have them tightened. Doing so will prevent unnecessary wear and tear on your wheelchair, and will extend the life of your wheelchair. You can even set up your own home maintenance schedule to remind yourself when your wheelchair is due for maintenance.

The Three Major Types Of Lift Chairs Explained
Before we get into an exploration of the three main types of lift chairs, perhaps we could start with a brief exploration on what lift-chairs in general are, for the benefit of those coming across them for the very first time.
As it turns out, lift chairs are a special variety of chairs made to accommodate the special needs of people who may be suffering from some medical conditions (an instance of which is arthritis) or some physical limitations; in a situation where such people often encounter great difficulties using ordinary chairs. Basically what the lift chair does is ease the process of lifting oneself from the seat to ones feet. That process usually looks very simple and straightforward when you are in a perfect physical condition. But faced with a condition like arthritis, it can be an outright torturous process. The knees become unbearably painful as they are forced to withstand the initial pressure (and shock) the moment you move from the sitting position in a chair to a standing position. So what the lift chair does, then, is to automate that process involved in making the transition from the sitting position to the standing position by giving you a ‘lift.’

Health Information Management Programs
Find Health Information Management Programs in the United States and Canada. Today, health information management programs are essential to candidates aspiring for job opportunities in physicians’ offices, home healthcare businesses, outpatient clinics, hospitals, nursing homes and other medical facilities.
While no two health information management programs are alike, it is essential to review course offerings at schools and career-training institutes that offer this and related programs. Though the majority of health information management programs are offered as degreed courses, a number of educational facilities may extend medical office specialist training, which can be completed as a job-specific course that results in a diploma or certificate.
Health information management programs are often accredited, and require successful completion of certification from the American Health Information Management Association. Common studies in health information management programs include liberal arts, and comprehensive health services administration training.
Graduates of health information management programs will have gained the knowledge and skills to successfully plan, direct, coordinate and supervise overall healthcare administration duties. Because healthcare managers (or medical and health service managers) must maintain client/patient records, it is critical that these healthcare workers continue education in computer technology and medical software to keep up with business demands.
